AACC’s Construction, Infrastructure and Logistics in Afghanistan Event

In April, the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce, with founding vice-president Hamed Wardak, sponsored a revolutionary event on Construction, Infrastructure and Logistics in Afghanistan.  The event was hosted by AACC and Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies in an effort to help Afghanistan achieve its logistic and constructive goals. AACC board chairman stated that “AACC’s Joint Symposium with NDU’s Near East South Asia Center in June was oversubscribed within three days of announcing that program.”

The conference focused on the views and experiences of private divisions as well as government officials involved in the field, and aimed to help the attendees understand how to implement and secure businesses in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan: Crossroads of the Ancient World

Tickets go on sale this month for a new exhibition about Afghanistan at the British Museum. The venerable London institution will be featuring the first exhibition of its kind to be held in the UK in over 40 years, with over 200 objects from ancient times.  These objects, which will be received as a loan from the National Museum, Kabul, are now traveling the world, highlighting Afghanistan’s unique cultural heritage and its remarkable achievements throughout history.

In this way the exhibit will enhance greater appreciation for Afghani culture on the part of the West, a goal shared by Hamed Wardak’s Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce in the U.S. “Afghanistan: Crossroads of the Ancient World” will be on display from March 3 – July 3, 2011.

Strategies of the AACC with Hamed Wardak

AACC, founded in 2002 by founding vice-president Hamed Wardak and many others, works to strengthen U.S.-Afghan economic relations.  They want Afghanistan’s economic development to remain a priority for the U.S. and Afghan policymakers. They use investment conferences, seminars, networking events, publications and other avenues to promote this exchange of business ideas between U.S. and Afghan companies.

They have a wealth of strategies that they use to reach their goal of establishing an open-market economy and democratic values in Afghanistan.  Such strategies include: creating an Afghan National Business Agenda; promoting sound corporate governance measures in Afghanistan; reforming institutional structures that serve as barriers to participation in a formal economy; creating open systems of feedback to government and providing training for association leaders and business leaders.
